Tim Cook to unveil iPhone 5 on October 4?

Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook is expected to unveil Apple’s new version of it’s popular smart phone, iPhone 5 in a media event on October 4, 2011. According to a report by John Paczkowski in AllThingD, the new device will be made available for purchase within a few weeks after the unveiling.

Apple is expected to introduce a low cost iPhone 4S along with iPhone 5. In addition to iPhone models, Apple is expected to update it’s iPod line. White version of iPod Touch is another rumord product to be released in the event.


iPhone 5 and the upcoming media event is one of most awaited media event for the newly appointed CEO Tim Cook. Cook was appointed the CEO of the world’s largest company when Apple co-founder and then CEO, Steve Jobs, stepped down last month. Apple had recently become the world’s largest company after dethroning Exxon Mobil.

In response to John Paczkowski’s October 4 prediction of the iPhone 5 event, Jim Dalrymple of The Loop has added a “Yep.”


Wall Street Street Journal article on October 4 speculation was also based on the AllThingD report. Jefferies analysts offer a fairly detailed preview about the iPhone to be released on that day.
