Which tablet has the longest battery life?
To find out which of the tablets available in market has the longest battery life, ‘Which?‘ from UK, conducted a test on a number of tablets. The tests were conducted for browsing web at 200 nits brightness. They divided tablets in two categories based on the size of the screen:
- Small-screen tablet (screen size of 7.9-inches and smaller)

Surprisingly, Apple wins in both categories in terms of battery life – that too with a large margin. In 10-inch category Apple’s iPad with Retina display topped with a battery life of 811 minutes. The second was Apple’s iPad 2 with 590 minutes battery life. The third was Sony’s Xperia Tablet S with 534 minutes of battery life. The average of all 16 tablets was found to be 451 minutes.

A rare, apology of Apple CEO Tim Cook on the half-baked iOS 6 Maps
Cook tells Apple’s customers that he is "extremely sorry" that the Maps app for iOS 6 didn’t work as well as expected.Cook recommended that iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch customers can download competitive map applications such as Microsoft’s Bing, MapQuest or Waze. He also suggested using Google Maps or Nokia through web app by using an icon of the app.
The new map in iOS6 will still be working and improving until it is perfected for the user’s satisfaction. Tim Cook would have saved the apology if Apple had released it as a ‘Beta’ to start with.

Many argue that, if it were Steve Jobs he would never had recommend Microsoft or Google as an alternative to Apple’s own inferior product.

Galaxy Note 10.1 sale started in US and UK
In a bid to upset the dominance of Apple’s iPad, Samsung has released an iPad like 10 inch tablet Galaxy Note 10.1 with a digital pen, split screen mode and similar price. Starting this Thursday, August 16, the Wi-Fi version of the tablet will be sold in the US, the UK and South Korea. The US$ price of the tablet starts at $499 for 16 gigabytes storage. The 32-gigabyte model, expandable with an external memory card, retails for $549.
Although the screen resolution of Galaxy Note is lower than the iPad, other features like digital pen and split mode (running two apps side-by-side on a screen divided in half) are not available in iPad. The tablet is also equipped with a quad-core processor and 2 gigabytes of RAM.

Samsung introduced pressure-sensitive digital pen, "S Pen" with the Galaxy Note last year. The device was very successful in a year topping 10 million sales. The S Pen in Galaxy Note is told to have been improved to make it feel natural and accurate.
To help gain the education market, Samsung has announced to donate some 600 Galaxy Note tablets to eight different schools in South Korea for their educational needs.

New iPad initial reviews
The new iPad is being released in 10 countries including US, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and UK on March 16th.
Early iPad reviews by various critics seem to agree on the main feature of the flagship product of Apple. As expected, the reviews are positive in every aspect.

The reviewers agree on the awesomeness of the new ‘Retina display’, 4G LTE, improved camera and speedy graphics. Let’s summarize the main points of reviews:
- The Retina Display is top-notch : iPad’s resolution is higher than any HDTV available in the market – at 2048×1536 pixels. The reviewers assure that the display looks great and they didn’t forget to mention that the users should see the device to believe it as no TV or computer screens can replicate the pixel density.
- The device is similar to iPad 2: Yes, it’s the same size (except for a slightly thicker and weightier body) that can fit into iPad2 cases. It looks same and the processor is the same dual core A5 as in iPad2 except for a beefed up 4 core graphic processor.
- 4G LTE is fast!: The reviewers found that the 4G LTE network connection is very fast. But, the network is not universal. It is only available in US and Canada, that too in a few cities. Although users might not be able to benefit from the facility now, it is a good thing to have a network that can potentially be faster than the home network.
- Camera is great: iPad2′s camera was the worst possible camera in a portable device. Although nobody would feel comfortable taking photo with a 10 inch device, it takes great photos. The reviewers were specially impressed by HD video recording capability.
- Good price: Although there are different tablets costlier and cheaper than iPad, iPad so far is the best tablet device. When compared to other competitive tablets, iPad’s features justifies the price.
