If you have GBs of memory but the system performance is still sluggish. You can increase your system performance by having the core system kept in memory.

This works only if you have 512 megs or more of memory.

Here is how you do it:

  1.  Start Regedit
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetContro lSession ManagerMemory ManagementDisablePagingExecutive
  3. Set the value to be 1
  4. Reboot the computer

That’s it. Enjoy better system performance!

Removing the Sneaky MSN Messenger

Sneaky MSN Messenger always starts with windows and remains in the system tray. It is not easy to remove it from there unless you can right click it and close it every time you start your computer.

If you are looking for a permanent solution, here it is:

1. Start / Run
2. Then enter in the following string:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%INFmsmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Hide/Unhide Logon Names

If you have made an user for yourself that you don’t want to show to everybody when they switch on your computer. Here is how you do the hiding / unhiding of Login names

  1. Start Regedit
  2. Go to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Winlogon SpecialAccounts UserList
  3. Add a DWORD with the name of the user account you want to hide
  4. Make sure it has a value of 0
  5. If there is an existing account, you can unhide it by giving it a value of 1

How To Uninstall Office 2007 Beta Manually

If you are one of those who installed MS Office 2007 Beta and couldn’t uninstall it at all. Here is a solution for you. (You can curse MS again before you apply it, they deserve it!!)

  1. Right-click on My Computer and choose Manage
  2. Expand “Services and Applications and then select Services
  3. In the right pane, stop the Office Source Engine service if it is running
  4.   5. And lastly, find and delete all keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall with a valuename of UninstallString that contains a value with *Office Setup Controllersetup.exe*
