Since childhood I was taught to starts "defending" when I start to loose a battle or when winning is difficult. In that context, I found it surprising that Motorola has has already started defending price tag of Xoom, even before it is released. A $800 for a 4G version and $600 for a WiFi version is much higher than iPad model released last year. With iPad2 around the corner, it is not known what more XOOM needs to compete with, apart from the price.
Even if the iPad 2 gets virtually all the same features as Xoom, there are people who would love to pay a premium to buy non-Apple. It sure seems odd to see similar products failing to compete with Apple in it’s weakest section, the price. It is to be noted that Apple has been accused of keeping higher margin in its product – adding ‘Apple Tax’.
