Learning Animation – Free Animation tools to start

I am going to start learning animation and I have collected some free tools to start animating.  Let’s start by the free tools that I use in starting animation.

Free Animation Tools

Plastic Animation Paper

Plastic Animation Paper (PAP) is a free software package for 2D animation. This is easy to use and useful for basic animation. Download PAP here.

An example of an animation shown in the tutorial of the software is shown below:

Another free animation tool is Pencil. The open source 2D animation/drawing software is available for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. The software uses traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoons) using both bitmap and vector graphics.

Download Pencil here.

MonkeyJam let one capture images from a webcam, camcorder, or scanner and assemble them as frames to be used in the animation.Images and sound files that are already on the computer can also be imported to be used in the animation. The animation movies created in MonkeyJam can be exported to AVI files.

The website of MonkeyJam is not working currently. I can send you the install file if you ask in the comment.

Few Books (they are not free, sorry):
