There is a good news for those who resisted their urge to carry an iPhone, simply because it only works on AT&T network. Verizon might start selling iPhone as soon as the year end.
According to people familiar with the plans, Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile-phone company, will start selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone next year, ending AT&T Inc.’s exclusive hold on the smartphone in the U.S. Businessweek reports that:
The device will be available to customers in January, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information isn’t public. Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, and Jeffrey Nelson, a Verizon Wireless spokesman, declined to comment.
Since the introduction of iPhone in 2007, Apple has sold more than 50 million units. iPhone 4, the latest version, sold more than 1.7 million units in the first three days after its June 24 debut. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that the company didn’t have enough supply to meet demand of the latest iPhone.
