Rumor – Nexus 7 V2 releasing in July to be priced in $149

In a latest rumor, Google might be releaseing the new version of Nexus 7 tablet in July 2013. In the new tablet a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor might be used instead of NVIDIA’s Tegra in current generation Nexus 7.

To compete with iPad and other 7-inch tablet, the entry level Google’s tablet will be aggressively priced as low as $149. There are skeptic on the low price as the current price at $199 is still competitive and the device is selling like a hot cake.

Nexus 7 has been the best selling Android tablet in a short time of it’s release and there have mostly been higher demand than supply of the entry level tablet.

Facebook press event to held on April 4, is it FB smartphone ?

Facebook has invited reporters in a press event on April 4 to be held in its Menlo Park, California office.

With a message "Come See Our New Home on Android" in its invitation card, speculation of Facebook developing it’s own smartphone based on Android operating system.

Facebook’s press conference in January had also prompted speculation about Facebook smartphone but, it turned out to be Graph Search tool instead. In the lights of repetitive denial of CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook entering the hardware market, I wouldn’t be surprise if it is just a much capable Android App.

Clean HTML from MS Word

By default, Microsoft Word can save any word document in HTML format. But, the word processor is notorious in inserting extra information in the files saved by the ‘Save As’ command.

The HTML file it creates is bloated and is full of unnecessary codes. For example, a two lines text in Word resulted into more than 1,000 lines of HTML code.

There is not an easy way to get rid of these extra codes, specially when you have more than a few lines of text in the Word file.

I found a Macro code in this discussion forum. A short tutorial is all you need to use it and yes, it worked in Microsoft Word 2007.

I am going to start learning animation and I have collected some free tools to start animating. Let’s start by the free tools that I use in starting animation.

Free Animation Tools

Plastic Animation Paper

Plastic Animation Paper (PAP) is a free software package for 2D animation. This is easy to use and useful for basic animation. Download PAP here.

Pencil

Another free animation tool is Pencil. The open source 2D animation/drawing software is available for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. The software uses traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoons) using both bitmap and vector graphics.

MonkeyJam

MonkeyJam let one capture images from a webcam, camcorder, or scanner and assemble them as frames to be used in the animation.Images and sound files that are already on the computer can also be imported to be used in the animation. The animation movies created in MonkeyJam can be exported to AVI files.

In a month of it’s release, the iOS6 Evasi0n Jailbreak has been installed in 14 million iOS devices. That is twice the amount of devices it was installed in the first 4 days of its release.

Answer:

First let me give you the exact formula to get the desired output. When you enter the date in ‘A1′ cell, you can copy and paste the following formula in B1:

="Today is "& DAY(A1) & "th " & TEXT(A1,"MMMM")& " " & YEAR(A1)

The output I got is: ‘Today is 30th December 2012′

Now, let me present some of the date formula you might find helpful in manipulating the output in Excel. As you can see in the following table, DAY(), MONTH() and YEAR() do work fine but, TEXT() command has a better control over what you get as output.

WayBackMachine is a web crawler that stores cache versions of websites. Most of the popular websites are cached by the server and is available for free. This is a great tool to see how a website had been in the past. For example, this domain computernewsreport.com was registered in 2005 but, there wasn’t anything in it. Before we registered the domain, we used to host thee blog in xnepali.com and you can see what it was like in 2007.

Google Cache

Another popular website keeping cache is Google. Google keeps cache to serve when the website is not working. Accessing web-cache in Google is replacing the ‘example.com’ by the website in question:

University of Western Sydney to distribute iPads to students and faculty

University of Western Sydney is planning to distribute 11,000 iPads to it’s students and faculty in 2013 to enhance their teaching and learning experience. Every student that enroll in 2013 will receive the iPad from the university.

It was reported that the new iPad initiative was one of the parts of a curriculum renewal strategy at the University. In the new curriculum renewal strategy, the university is implementing flexible study options for students for all UWS degrees starting from 2013.

After Apple booted the default Google Maps for it’s own mapping solution in iOS6, the App was the most missed App in the iOS device. Google has released the new Google Maps app and is available to download for free in the App Store.

The new maps app includes turn-by-turn navigation, the feature that Google had refused to include in the previous default app (as told by Apple). The app also feature public transit routes, and Street View.

Apple’s mapping replacement was a huge failure and was cited to be the cause of firing of at least two top ranking Apple officials. Google Maps looks good (as usual) and similar to the Android version.

To find out which of the tablets available in market has the longest battery life, ‘Which?‘ from UK, conducted a test on a number of tablets. The tests were conducted for browsing web at 200 nits brightness. They divided tablets in two categories based on the size of the screen:

Small-screen tablet (screen size of 7.9-inches and smaller)
10-inch tablets (screen size 9.4-inches and larger)

Surprisingly, Apple wins in both categories in terms of battery life – that too with a large margin. In 10-inch category Apple’s iPad with Retina display topped with a battery life of 811 minutes. The second was Apple’s iPad 2 with 590 minutes battery life. The third was Sony’s Xperia Tablet S with 534 minutes of battery life. The average of all 16 tablets was found to be 451 minutes.

In small-screen category, Apple’s iPad Mini was again the clear winner with 783 minutes of life. Amazon Kindle Fire HD came second with 591 minutes. Kindle Fire (non-HD) however ran only for 437 minutes in the test. The average battery life of 10 7-inch tablets was found to be 478 minutes.
