The BlackBerry Torch, is found to be cheaper for Research In Motion than iPhone 4 costs to Apple Inc. For the consumers however, Torch costs the same $199.99 as that of iPhone with a two years contract.
Blackberry Torch is RIM’s first smart phone with a touchscreen and slide-out keyboard. The device comes with BlackBerry 6 operating system with faster browser and better interface, and was first introduced on August 12, 2010.
According to iSuppli, Torch’s raw materials and components cost RIM $171.05 whereas iPhone materials cost $187.51 to Apple. The most costly part in the Torch, costing 20% of the total cost, is its LCD and touch screen display module ($34.95).
