Research in Motion has said today that it is planning to cut 2000 jobs. As a part of cost optimization program, the maker of Blackberry mobile phones has been struggling to keep it’s leading position in smartphone category. But, the success of Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android OS smartphones has pushed the Blackberry from the first place to third most most popular smartphones in market.
The current job cut amounts about 10 percent of RIM’s workforce of about 19,000 people.
