According to a latest report, 95% of the 4.4 million tablets in total sold in the September quarter were Apple’s iPad. That was an increase of 26% in sales from the previous quarter. Android’s tablet share decreased from 2.9 percent to 2.3 percent in the same period. Apple has told that it has sold 4.19 million iPads in the quarter.
The numbers are not that surprising as iPad has a virtual monopoly. The equation is expected to change when more Android devices using Google’s platform enter the market in coming days. Apart from Android, Apple’s iOS needs to compete with Microsoft, MeeGo of Nokia and Intel, HP’s webOS, and RIM’s Blackberry.
